THE SIGNIFICANCE OF STAGE SPEECH IN THE STRUCTURE OF MUSICAL DRAMA

The purpose of this article is to analyze the role and significance of stage speech in the genre of musical drama from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The study employs historical-comparative, analytical, and systematic approaches, and examines the functional features of stage speech in musical drama based on relevant theatre studies and speech culture sources. The findings indicate that stage speech is one of the leading expressive means in musical drama, playing a decisive role in character development, the articulation of dramatic conflict, and audience impact. In particular, the actor’s ability to transition organically between speech and music is identified as a key indicator of professional mastery. The study also reveals existing challenges related to speech technique, adherence to literary pronunciation norms, and the insufficient development of emotional listening skills. It is concluded that stage speech constitutes a central component of musical drama and directly influences both acting quality and the overall effectiveness of theatrical performance.
