Аннотация

The integration of ESG into global energy strategies has strengthened efforts to achieve the UN SDGs. Renewable energy offers strong potential to replace fossil-based generation. However, higher education institutions in the UAE face challenges in producing sufficient skilled graduates to manage this transition. This study examines how policymakers can strengthen student talent pipelines through university–industry partnerships to ensure long-term sustainability of the energy sector. A qualitative approach was applied using secondary data from academic literature and industry reports. The findings show that the UAE government has made progress by establishing institutions such as the DEWA Innovation Centre and merging Masdar and Petroleum Institute under Khalifa University of Science and Technology. Despite these initiatives, policies to secure a steady supply of talent face institutional barriers. The study proposes a conceptual framework that combines regulatory guidance, roadmap and key performance indicators to support continuous development of talent in the RE sector.
