Meta-Analysis in Multimodal Literacy Studies

This chapter examines the role of meta-analysis in synthesizing research evidence within multimodal literacy studies, particularly as artificial intelligence transforms educational landscapes. Meta-analytic approaches provide systematic methods for aggregating findings across diverse studies examining AI integration in multimodal learning environments. The chapter analyzes key meta-analyses investigating AI literacy development, generative AI impacts on learning outcomes, multimodal learning analytics, and digital literacy frameworks. Through critical examination of methodological approaches, effect sizes, and moderating variables, this synthesis reveals consistent positive effects of AI-enhanced multimodal interventions on student achievement, alongside challenges including over-reliance risks and implementation variability.
