Аннотация

Groundwater in the northeast region of Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, has been contaminated by various pollutants, resulting from human activities, altering its physico-chemical properties. This area's geological composition, dominated by the Aravalli chain, contains abundant minerals. They analyzed 42 water samples using an Atomic Absorption Spectrometer (AAS) and compared the results with standards set by BIS (10500:2012), ICMR (Indian Council of Medical Research), and WHO (World Health Organization). In this region, the extraction of iron and copper ores by HCL has led to significantly elevated concentrations of these minerals in groundwater across all sampling stations. The higher concentration of Cu was found at 4.1 mg/L in chirawa tehsil. The levels of iron and copper exceed the permissible limits set by BIS (10500:2012) and WHO.Manganese was undetected in all sampling sites.Although iron and copper are trace elements, their high concentrations pose substantial health risks, including cardiovascular issues, methemoglobinemia (blue baby syndrome), and respiratory conditions such as asthma. This highlights a serious hazard to human health in the area.
