Production of pions, kaons and protons in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 900~\mathrm{GeV}$ with ALICE at the LHC
Аннотация
The production of π \n+, π \n−, K+, K−, p, and p at \nmid-rapidity has been measured in proton-proton collisions \nat \n√ \ns = 900 GeV with the ALICE detector. Particle identification \nis performed using the specific energy loss in the \ninner tracking silicon detector and the time projection chamber. \nIn addition, time-of-flight information is used to identify \nhadrons at higher momenta. Finally, the distinctive kink \ntopology of the weak decay of charged kaons is used for \nan alternative measurement of the kaon transverse momentum \n(pt) spectra. Since these various particle identification \ntools give the best separation capabilities over different momentum \nranges, the results are combined to extract spectra \nfrom pt = 100 MeV/c to 2.5 GeV/c. The measured spectra \nare further compared with QCD-inspired models which \nyield a poor description. The total yields and the mean pt are \ncompared with previous measurements, and the trends as a \nfunction of collision energy are discussed.
