Studies on Decision of Selection Indexes for Quality Breeding of Eucalypt Pulpwood(I). Within-tree variations and the positions representing the whole-tree values of polysaccharides contents on E.camaldulensis and E.globulus.
Аннотация
Within-tree variations, whole-tree values and the representative heights for the whole-tree values of polysaccharides contents were analysed for two trees Eucalyptus camaldulensis and E. globulus, grown at the seed orchard in Western Australia for the quality breeding using an increment core without cutting the tree.Within-tree variations of both holocellulose and cellulose in E. camaldulensis were observed as higher in bark side and upper part, on the other hand, those in E. globulus were as higher in bark side only. In contrast, the variation of hemicellulose had almost no tendency for both species. The contents of both holocellulose and cellulose were higher in bark side in a tree for both species and higher pulp yield was expected from such parts. The whole-tree contents of polysaccharides showed the differences between species and between sample trees of E. camaldulensis.Representative heights for the whole-tree contents ± 5 %, of polysaccharides were 3.3 m for E. camaldulensis, and 2.8 and 3.3 m for E. globulus. The whole-tree height and the difference in within-tree variation of polysaccharides when they were chosen below 3.3 m height to consider of sampling an increment core.It is expected that whole-tree pulp properties are predicted by the increment core taken from these representative heights.
