Аннотация

This paper employs the Long-term Energy Alternative Planning (LEAP) model to investigate the complex energy dynamics of Bangladesh, shedding light on its current energy situation, future electricity demand, and the potential for renewable energy sources. The research examines three distinct scenarios: the business-as-usual (BAU), energy-efficient scenario (EES), and alternative energy scenario (AES). The BAU scenario aligns with the government's planned expansion of energy capacity, while the EES emphasizes energy efficiency through the adoption of efficient devices across households, industries, and the commercial sector. In contrast, the AES focuses on significantly increasing renewable energy utilization, aiming to generate 60% of electricity from sustainable sources, thus reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This study underscores the critical role of sustainable energy solutions in driving economic development, especially in developing nations like Bangladesh. The findings reveal that the status quo in the country's energy system is unsustainable, marked by rising greenhouse gas emissions and heavy dependence on imported fossil fuels. To address these challenges, the research advocates for diversifying the energy mix, investing in renewables, and embracing energy-efficient technologies. This case study serves as a valuable guide for Bangladesh's journey towards a sustainable, secure, and efficient energy future, highlighting the urgency of addressing energy challenges to ensure the country's long-term economic and environmental well-being.
