Mixtures of optical isomers of 3,7-dimethylpentadecan-2-ylacetate were tested in the field for the attraction of Neodiprion pratti banksianae Rohwer. The males were mainly attracted to the 2S,3S,7S-isomer, and the attraction was improved by addition of a low (6–20%) but inhibited by a high (>20%) proportion of the 2S,3R,7R-isomer. A 5:1 isomer ratio gave the best attractiveness for the males of N. p. banksianae.
