Influence of elastic scattering on the current-voltage characteristics of small metallic contacts. I. The ohmic current

The Boltzmann equation for the flow of current through a small metallic contact has been solved numerically for a series of values of a/l, where l is the mean-free-path for elastic scattering, and a is the radius of the circular contact. Results are presented for the current, the electrostatic potential, the current distribution in the contact and the electron-distribution function in the neighbourhood of the contact.
