A versatile spectrometer based on a large-volume Si(Li) p-i-n structure

Pulse height spectra of large-volume position-sensitive Si(Li) detectors have been investigated at normal and parallel incidence of particles on the active region of these detectors. For α particles, the energy resolution is shown to be dependent on the direction of their incidence with respect to the electric field direction; for β particles, such a difference has not been observed.
