Physical Properties of Fluid CH4 and CD4: Experimental

Measurements of some physical properties of liquid and gaseous CH4 and CD4 are reported. The data were obtained at temperatures ranging from the freezing point up to 10° above the critical temperature and at pressures up to 70 atm. The measured quantities include vapor pressures, liquid molar volumes, liquid isothermal compressibilities, critical constants, and gas-phase molar volumes and compressibilities in the critical region. These results are compared with those of other workers and with some theoretical predictions of fluid behavior in the critical region.
