Аннотация
The thermoelectric power of silicon decreases precipitously when the dimensions of a microcontact are reduced below a critical value. The critical dimension $L$ decreases with rising temperature $T$ and is a measure for an interaction length of electron-phonon coupling. The dimensional reduction inhibits the phonon-drag contribution to the thermoelectric power; the predicted scaling with ${L}^{\ensuremath{-}1}{T}^{\ensuremath{-}4}$ is verified for the first time.
