ETHNODEMOGRAPHIC PROCESESS AT THE HEADQUARTERS OF AMUDARYA ON THE EVE OF THE 1916 UPRISING

The article analyzes the features of ethno-demographic processes in the lower reaches of the Amudarya on the eve of the 1916 uprising. In addition to the socio-economic and political causes of the uprising, an analysis of the relationship between ethnic groups and indigenous nationalities in the Khiva Khanate and the Amu Darya department of the Turkestan governorate general at the beginning of the 20th century is important. The wrong national policy of the tsarist administration and the Khiva khanate served as the main causes of the popular uprising.
