The van der Waals interaction of two or three atoms

The van der Waals interaction of neutral atoms may be characterized by two-body constants CAB and three-body constants CABC. A recent analysis of spectroscopic, refractive index and Verdet constant measurements has been combined with a simple technique for evaluating oscillator strength summations to give CAB for all pairs and CABC for all triplets of the atoms H, He, Ne, Ar, Kr and Xe. The results are believed to be accurate to within 10%.
