philosophy and its Current Potential summaRy This study aims to reveal the essence of the Kantian approach to fatherhood in relation to its current potential.until relatively recently, the phenomenon of fatherhood has received little academic attention. However, major economic, political, socio-cultural and psychological changes at national and global levels have resulted in a more equal distribution of parental responsibilities and an increased visibility of fathers. The latter are seen as responsible for the development of their children in physical, cognitive, emotional, social and other domains. The review of literature was carried out to understand the underpinnings of contemporary fatherhood philosophy and trace references, if any, to the interpretations of fatherhood in immanuel kant's "metaphysics of morals" and other works.it was discovered that in their response to changing conditions of daily living, men have demonstrated an increased involvement into taking care of and teaching their children.modern fathers strive to maintain their relationships with children in line with kantian ethics, which stresses the responsibility of parents for their child's happiness.although mothers and fathers are equally committed to facilitate their children's perceived happiness, men tend to receive less support in their transitioning to fatherhood and in maintaining their new identity.Proper support from family, community and professionals can help today's fathers fulfil their duties as documented in kantian ethics.
