The role of systemic diseases in the etiology of chronic blepharitis
Аннотация
Blepharitis is one of the most common eye diseases. Chronic blepharitis is a multifactorial disease of inflammatory, hormonal and infectious nature. In particular, chronic blepharitis is associated with helicobacter pylori infection, skin disorders (psoriasis, atopic and seborrheic dermatitis, rosacea, etc.), endocrine pathology (hypothyroidism, prostatic hypertrophy, osteoporosis), dyslipidemia and other topical (chalazion) and systemic inflammatory diseases. It is assumed that even some cardiovascular conditions (e.g. carotid artery disease) due to reduced blood supply to eyelids can cause meibomian gland dysfunction and blepharitis. Further study of concomitant diseases will improve efficiency of blepharitis diagnosis and treatment. Keywords: chronic blepharitis, inflammatory, hormonal and infectious nature, systemic diseases, helicobacter pylori, psoriasis, rosacea
