THE ROLE OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING IN ACQUIRING GLOBAL AND INTERDISCIPLINARY KNOWLEDGE
Аннотация
In the era of globalization and rapid knowledge expansion, English language teaching extends beyond linguistic competence and serves as a gateway to global and interdisciplinary knowledge. English functions as the primary medium of instruction, research, and information exchange across science, technology, economics, and culture. This article examines how English language teaching facilitates access to worldly knowledge and contributes to learners’ intellectual, academic, and professional development. Drawing on theories of English as a Global Language, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), and English for Academic Purposes (EAP), the study analyzes the integrative role of English in acquiring scientific, cultural, and technological knowledge. Using a qualitative theoretical approach, the paper argues that English language education plays a crucial role in shaping globally competent individuals capable of engaging with international knowledge systems. The findings highlight that teaching English as a means of accessing content knowledge enhances critical thinking, global awareness, and lifelong learning.
