Аннотация

This research explores the philosophical dimensions of weathering as captured through the photography of Ahmad Al Saffarini, focusing on the sandstone formations in Petra, Jordan. By integrating phenomenology, existentialism and environmental aesthetics, the study examines how detailed images function as both artistic expressions and philosophical meditations on time, mortality and nature’s indifference. The findings reveal a tension between human perceptions, as highlighted by phenomenology, and the indifference of natural processes, a key theme in existentialism. Through a carefully curated sample of Al Saffarini’s photographs, the study demonstrates how photography mediates the human experience of time, transforming fleeting natural phenomena into enduring reflections on impermanence. This research expands the role of photography beyond documentation, positioning it as a profound philosophical tool that bridges human experience with nature’s indifference. Ultimately, the study contributes to the philosophy of photography, revealing how visual representation engages with existential and temporal concerns, inviting viewers to confront the interplay between time, beauty and the creative force of weathering.
