PREVALENCE AND RISK FACTORS OF IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA IN PEDIATRIC PATIENTS
Аннотация
Iron deficiency anemia (IDA) is one of the most common hematological disorders in pediatric populations worldwide. It is associated with impaired physical growth, weakened immunity, and delayed cognitive development. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of iron deficiency anemia among children and to identify major risk factors contributing to its development. A descriptive observational analysis was conducted using clinical and laboratory data from pediatric patients. The findings revealed a high prevalence of IDA, particularly in children under five years of age. Inadequate dietary iron intake, improper complementary feeding practices, recurrent infections, and low socioeconomic status were identified as significant risk factors. Early screening and preventive nutritional strategies are essential for reducing the burden of iron deficiency anemia in children.
