Аннотация

The article analyzes the theoretical interpretation of the category of imperative in linguistics and its communicative-pragmatic features. Imperativeness is considered not only as a grammatical form, but also as a speech act and a means of social communication. It is shown that the semantic and functional aspects of the concept of imperative expanded under the influence of structuralism and pragmatics in linguistics of the 19th–20th centuries. Based on the views expressed by world and Uzbek linguists, the various meanings of the imperative form and its dependence on the context of speech are highlighted.
