Аннотация

The article studies the immunohistochemical characteristics of scleromalacia developing in complicated myopia. Scleromalacia is a process of degradation in the superficial and deep layers of the sclera tissue, which is mainly observed in cases associated with high myopia. Immunohistochemical analysis revealed a decrease in the amount of collagen types I and III in the sclera, increased activity of fibroblasts, and a remodeling of extracellular matrix components. Also, in the areas of scleromalacia, active CD45+ lymphocytes and macrophages were found, in which local immunoallergic reactions also play an important role. These data are of great importance for understanding the mechanism of sclera degradation in complicated myopia and for developing effective therapeutic approaches in the future.
