Аннотация

The article examines the lexical-semantic group of English verbs united by the meaning think and analyzes the semantic relations between its elements. The study is based on the method of componential analysis and the examination of definitions from explanatory and synonymic dictionaries, which makes it possible to identify similarities and differences among synonymous verbs. Particular attention is paid to the polysemy of the verb think, its various lexical-semantic variants, and the system of synonymic series forming the structure of the semantic field. The results of the analysis demonstrate that the polysemy of verbs and their participation in different synonymic and antonymic relations create a complex network of connections within the lexical-semantic system of the language.
