Metaverse Adoption Among Banking Users: A Developing Nation's Perspective

Abstract Metaverse banking transitions online banking to a virtual realm, allowing customers to access services and interact virtually. While metaverse adoption is advantageous, research primarily focuses on gaming, education, and sports, neglecting banking. Current IT models lack focus on personal, voluntary adoption like metaverse banking. To address this, a new UTAUT2 model integrates performance, effort, social influence (SI), trust, and financial resources. Validated through 500 users from Punjab National Bank and Bank of Maharashtra, it proposes new constructs for metaverse banking adoption. Future research should expand to include cultural variations across banks and countries, especially in developing nations, for a comprehensive understanding.
