Pathways to Sustainable Development OF the Hotel Industry
Аннотация
This article examines the pathways for sustainable development of the hotel industry in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, taking into account the region's environmental vulnerability and socio-economic transformation. The study is based on an analysis of theoretical approaches to sustainable hotel development and a review of the current regulatory framework governing tourism and hospitality in Uzbekistan, with particular emphasis on governmental decrees and resolutions adopted in 2024–2025. Special attention is given to the role of state tourism policy in shaping sustainable development models at the regional level. The article analyzes the construction and commissioning of new hotels in Karakalpakstan, including the entry of the International hotel brand Wyndham, as a factor of institutional transformation and managerial standardization. The findings demonstrate that the participation of International hotel brands contributes to improving service quality, enhancing investment attractiveness, and strengthening environmental sustainability in the regional hotel sector. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the conceptualization of a “brand-induced sustainability effect” in the development of regional hotel markets.
