Аннотация

Softening (enhancement of plasticity) of metals in the superconducting transition is analyzed as a function of concentration of impurities and deformational defects. This analysis is based on a theory, earlier suggested by the author, of transition induced metal softening which is valid when plasticity is determined by fluctuating dislocation motion over localized barriers generated by the defects mentioned. It is pointed out that the magnitude of the effect varies nonmonotonically with impurity concentration and plastic prestraining. The effect of impurities and deformations on the temperature behavior of softening effects is discussed.
