Аннотация

A study is made of the strain hardening of silver single crystals of 99.9% purity in the temperature range 4.2−300°K with a strain rate of 7×10−4 sec−1. Temperature dependences of the characteristic stresses, shear strains, and hardening coefficients in the first and second stages of hardening are plotted and considered. The observed features of hardening are conditioned by the low value of the energy of the stacking faults in silver and by the character of the dislocation motion in the early stages of deformation at low temperatures.
