The effect of hydrostatic pressure on antiferromagnetic resonance in CoCl2
Аннотация
The effect of hydrostatic pressure (to 2.5 kbar) on high frequency antiferromagnetic resonance in the laminar easy-plane antiferromagnet CoCl2 is studied at T = 4.2°K at a frequency of 75 GHz. The value of the exchange field, which is proportional to the interlayer exchange constant, depends exponentially on pressure, varying from 32 kOe at p = 0 to 44 ±2 kOe at p =2.1 ±0.2 kbar. CoCl2 compressibility data are used to obtain the exponential dependence of the interlayer exchange constant on interlayer distance d. Possible interlayer exchange mechanisms are considered. It is shown that the magnitude, sign, and distance dependence of interlayer exchange are consistent with the hypothesis of direct exchange interaction.
