Аннотация

The heat capacity of DNA films was measured in the temperature range 4.2−400°K. The linear dependence it is observed to have in the range 4.2−180°K makes it possible to treat the dynamic properties of DNA within the framework of the theory of low-dimensional crystals. Experimental data are used to determine the “one-dimensional” Debye temperature θ1 = 560°K(ω0 = 7.6·1013 Hz) and the propagation velocity of elastic oscillations, u = 124 m/sec. A model is suggested for a qualitative analysis of the results.
