Аннотация

The surface impedance of cadmium and tungsten plates was investigated experimentally in a strong (up to 80 kOe) magnetic field perpendicular to the surface for the case of symmetrical excitation of rf waves at liquid helium temperature. The results are compared with theory. It is found that unlike the antisymmetric case, the losses in the plate under symmetric excitation increase monotonically with the magnetic field. This is explained by a difference in skin field distribution in the plate. Taking into account slight tilting of the magnetic field to the surface leads to changes in the dependences of the impedance components. An essential discrepancy between theoretical predictions and experimental results is discovered in the imaginary part of the impedance.
