Determination of hydrogen-isotope distribution in materials using 14. 5-MeV neutrons
Аннотация
This paper describes a method of determining hydrogen-isotope distribution in materials by elastic scattering of 14.5-MeV neutrons. The depth distribution of any isotope or mixture of isotopes of hydrogen is determined from the energy spectrum of the corresponding recoil nuclei, which is measured by a telescope of three silicon detectors with identification of particle type by two-dimensional E-E analysis. Concentration analysis is performed to a depth of 0.1-1.5 mm, depending on the specimen material and the isotope being analyzed, with a depth of 0.1-1.5 mm, depending on the specimen material and the isotope being analyzed, with a depth resolution of 7-8% of the maximum depth of analysis. The sensitivities are -0.1 at.% for deuterium and tritium and ca. 10 at.% for hydrogen.
