Kinetics of heating and perturbations of the superconducting state under jump-like deformation of niobium
Аннотация
The characteristic time of evolution and relaxation of thermal perturbations and perturbations in the superconducting state during deformation jumps in niobium are determined experimentally at 4.2 K. The plastic deformation is found to be adiabatic both in the bulk of the sample and in the slip region. The volume-averaged temperatures are measured after the deformation jump (35–45 K), and the local values of temperature are evaluated in the developing slip band (200–250 K). The observed regularities are analyzed by using the concepts of thermomechanical instability of the low-temperature plastic flow. It is concluded that the motion of dislocations during the deformation jump is predominantly of a viscous nature.
