The role of conduction electrons in acoustic signal transfer is studied theoretically for conductors with a smooth surface. It is shown that the existence of a few nonequivalent states for a specularly reflected electron leads to the generation of anomalous waves which are not observed in samples with a very rough surface. These waves are formed by electrons from the neighborhoods of points on the Fermi surface, where an additional channel of specular reflection is involved, and propagate at a velocity considerably exceeding the velocity of the main acoustic signal.
