Magnetic phase transition and hole concentration in YBa2Cu3O6+<i>x</i>

Experimental dependences of the Néel temperatures, the superconducting transition temperature, the concentration of nonmagnetic copper ions, and the density of holes in the CuO2 planes in YBa2Cu3O6+x. are analyzed theoretically by using the model proposed by Tranquada et al. It is shown that the simple mechanism of hole generation upon a change in the oxygen concentration yields theoretical estimates of these quantities as well as for pair interaction potentials of nonstoichiometric oxygen, which are in quantitative agreement with experimental results.
