Vision: Accomplishment-based content for public education
Joe HarlessJoe Harless is regarded as one of the founders of performance technology. His book, An Ounce of Analysis, coined the term “front-end analysis” in 1970. He is the author of numerous books and instructional systems in the field, including Turning Kids On and Off (with Claude Lineberry); the Job Aids Workshop; and the Accomplishment-Based Curriculum Development System (named the “Outstanding New Product” by ISPI in 1988). His latest work, Peak Performance System, is a set of job aids for designing non-instructional interventions such as feedback, work-process re-engineering, employee selection, and work-environment design. Joe is a past president of ISPI and received its Gilbert Distinguished Professional Achievement Award in 1996. He was elected to the HRD Hall of Fame in 1988. Now retired from active management of the Harless Performance Guild, he devotes full time to research and development in public education and other societal arenas.
