Femtosecond harmonic generation from solid surfaces

Experimental studies of harmonic generation from solid surfaces in conditions of small scale length (L < 0.1/spl lambda/) using of compact tabletop short pulse laser system capable of producing 0.5-J, 0.5-ps, 1-TW pulses at a wavelength range of 1.06 /spl mu/m are reported. Blueshift and polarization properties of harmonics are discussed.
