Studies on γ-ray sensitivity of YAP:Ce scintillation detector

The detectors are composed of YAP:Ce, CeF_3 and PbWO_4 with PMT which has large line current. In the experiments on ()~(60)Co and ()~(137)Cs radioactive sources we have measured the γ-ray sensitivities of the detectors. The data have been analyzed and γ-ray sensitivities of the detectors are gained. From the experiments and the results of the modeling with MCNP/4B program we have drawn the conclusion: the γ-ray sensitivity of YAP:Ce is more than 10 times of that of CeF_3 with the same volume; YAP:Ce-an alternative solution for γ-ray detecting.
