Аннотация

An experimental study of the mode composition of radiation propagating along the core of holey fibers based on quartz glass has been carried out. The core is formed by replacing the seven central elements in the polycapillary hexagonal assembly by a single rod, and this makes it possible to increase the size of the core relative to the external diameter of the fiber. It is shown that a single-mode regime can be achieved in practice when the concentration of air in the cladding is large by comparison with the result of a theoretical analysis.
