Аннотация

Background Few papers on foot burns can be found in the scientific literature. Although there are reports describing clinical and radiographic changes as a result of burns, deep structural injury and destruction of the bone-joint apparatus in the long-term after thermal foot injury have not been completely investigated. Methods We performed a retrospective review of radiographs obtained over a 17-year period of 79 children ages 14 years and younger with burns to the foot. All observed changes in the bones and joints in the foot were collected to create a clinical and radiographic working scheme. Results The most frequent structural changes of bone tissue was osteoporosis followed by osteolysis, underdevelopment of the toes, osteoarthropathy, and ankylosis. Strains and sprains of the toes were common, especially in those with severe foot deformity. Conclusion Timely detection of marked changes in the area of the foot gives surgeons the opportunity to undertake a number of preventive measures and administer more efficient treatment.
