Study on the Soilless Culture Substrates of Camellia rosthorniana

1-year-old seeding of Camellia rosthorniana Hand-Mazz. cv. Tianshanfen was chosen as the planting material to select the optimum medium formula. The effects of 9 formulas of green waste, perlite and sand at volume proportion on vegeta-tion growth of C. rosthorniana was studied with perlite:peat =1:2 as control. The results showed that green waste :perlite:sand=3:2:1 was the best media formula for the soilless culture of C. rosthorniana as the plant height(38.67 cm) and growth rate per year(22.25 cm) was obviously higher than the other formulas while was not significantly different from the control.Thus, the green waste could replace peat to be used for soilless culture, which could not only save the cost of production,but also adding new exploit approach of green waste.
