Аннотация

Orofacial pain is pain in the trigeminal nerve system. The trigeminal nerve provides general sensitivity to the face, scalp and mouth. A huge proportion of the sensory cortex represents trigeminal nerve input (over 40%). The sensory area of the trigeminal nerve is very complex and includes the skull, ears, eyes, sinuses, nose, pharynx, subscapular fossa, mandibular joint, teeth, jaws, salivary glands, oral mucosa and skin. As many medical students rarely experience ear, throat and nose (ENT), otolaryngology and dentistry, this area remains a mystery to most, as their unique experience of trigeminal nerve pain is based on trigeminal neuralgia in connection with neurosurgical procedures
