The effect of the size of the horizontal gap between the foundation and the sliding grillage on the oscillation of the building during an earthquake

The object of the study is the analysis of vibrations of buildings on sliding foundations with dry friction, which has a restriction on the movement of the grillage in the horizontal direction, under the action of real earthquakes above 9 points according to MSK-64. To date, dynamic problems with dry friction with restriction of horizontal movement of the grillage have not been considered. The method of solving the problem under study is the Newmark method with a logical algorithm for determining the states of the beginning of sliding, sticking, reaching the limiter and moving away from it. An algorithm has been developed for calculating displacements, velocities, accelerations and shear forces resulting from the effects of horizontal and vertical components of the seismogram recording. Using the example of a four-storey building with a set of two earthquake records, the effect of horizontal displacement limiters on the value of shear force when using a sliding foundation is shown. The increase in the value of the shear force in the structure in the case of a restriction of horizontal movement of the grillage depends on the established gap between the grillage and the movement limiter.
