SOCIO-ECONOMIC FACTORS AFFECTING THE LEVEL OF ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF STUDENTS IN UNIVERSITIES IN UZBEKISTAN
Аннотация
The purpose of this article is to study the socio-economic factors affecting student academic performance, and the relationship between the financial independence of students and their studies at the university. The survey was conducted using open data on the website of Tashkent State University of Economics (the largest university of economics in Uzbekistan) and randomly selected profiles of 200 students. In the course of the observational study, a significant positive effect of the financial security of students and the flexibility of the study schedule on academic performance and academic achievements was found. It is established that absences from classes due to various factors have a significant negative impact on academic performance overall. The possession of foreign languages and employment in sports has a significant positive, and being married has the opposite correlation with the student's study results. The impact of employment on academic performance for individuals from different groups is heterogeneous. The influence of the income factor on the academic performance of female students is less significant than concerning their male classmates. Students and parents of government employees, have higher rates of interest in educational activities than those whose parents are engaged in business. It is revealed that students' satisfaction with financial and interpersonal relationships and the educational atmosphere at the university are potential conditions for catching up on missed material.
