The Role of Open Educational Resources in Advancing Distance and Online Learning

This paper highlights the vital role of open educational resources (OERs) in advancing distance and online learning worldwide through affordable, accessible and quality content. Recommendations encompass developing collaborative OER frameworks, federated digital infrastructure and capability building to drive adoption. OER integration can achieve over 50% cost savings for learners compared to traditional content. With concerted efforts, OERs can profoundly transform online education as enablers of inclusion, lifelong learning and knowledge equity.
