Non-Verbal Components of Speech and Their Role in Intercultural Communication
Аннотация
This article presents some results of the research within the framework of the project on the topic "Intercultural competence of a university teacher and its impact on improving the competitiveness of higher education in Kazakhstan". The authors of the article analyzed various aspects of intercultural communication. The article is devoted to the study of the paralinguistic aspect of intercultural communication, which consists in determining the role of non-verbal means of speech in intercultural interaction. The article considered such non-verbal means of speech as: paraverbal components (rhythm, intonation, etc.), elements of kinesics (gestures, facial expressions, poses), elements of proxemics (space, time, etc.). The importance of taking into account intercultural differences when using them in speech is revealed. The authors provide examples of non-verbal means of communication from the works of Kazakh writers, trace their coincidences and differences in form and semantics with non-verbal means of other cultures, reflect the moments of their misinterpretation, which once again proves the need for their systematic study. The authors believe that knowledge of the national and cultural specifics of non-verbal components of communication is necessary for the formation of intercultural competence in the training of teachers in Kazakh universities.
