In this article, the methodology of using Uzbek folk songs in music culture lessons conducted in general secondary schools is analyzed from a scientific and pedagogical point of view. In the course of research, the role and importance of folk songs in the formation of national values, aesthetic taste, and musical thinking among students has been highlighted. Also, effective methods of using samples of folk music in the process of music education, modern pedagogical approaches to lesson organization, and methodical recommendations are considered in the article. It is scientifically proven that through folk songs, it is possible to develop the ability to listen to music, to feel the rhythm, to form the skills of singing as a team, and to cultivate a sense of respect for the national culture. Also, the article emphasizes that the use of folk music in musical culture lessons is an important factor in increasing the creative activity of students, developing their artistic thinking, and increasing their interest in art.
