Аннотация

Flocculation is widely used in wastewater treatment processes. The purpose of flocculation is to form aggregates or flakes of finely dispersed and colloidally stable particles. Flocculation is a transport step that results in the collision of persistent particles tending to form large particles (aggregates) that can be easily removed from the treated wastewater by sedimentation, filtration or flotation. Currently, flocculation is widely used in the technology of wastewater treatment of industrial and domestic origin. The mechanism of action of flocculants is based on the phenomenon of adsorption of flocculant molecules on the surface of colloidal particles, the formation of a network structure of flocculant molecules, and the adhesion of colloidal particles due to van der Waals forces. Under the action of flocculants. three-dimensional structures are formed between colloidal particles, capable of faster and more complete separation of the liquid phase. The reason for the appearance of such structures is the adsorption of flocculant macromolecules on several particles with the formation of polymer bridges between them.
