Аннотация

This article explores the distinctive characteristics of abstract nouns, focusing on how they differ in the representation of their lexical-semantic content, as well as in their scope, intensity, and conceptual volume. Abstract nouns, unlike concrete nouns, refer to ideas, qualities, emotions, and phenomena that are not physically tangible, which makes their interpretation and usage highly dependent on context, culture, and linguistic conventions. One of the central aspects examined in this study is the ability to categorize abstract nouns into functional and emotional types. Functional abstract nouns typically denote concepts related to societal, intellectual, or practical domains, such as “justice,” “freedom,” or “knowledge,” whereas emotional abstract nouns convey feelings, attitudes, or psychological states, such as “love,” “anger,” or “happiness.”
