CLINICAL USEFULNESS OF PROCALCITONIN IN ANTIBIOTIC DECISION-MAKING DURING SARS-COV-2 INFECTION

Resume. Tablee presents laboratory characteristics, as well as potential biomarkers for predicting disease severity in patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. Examined 120 patients with a new coronavirus infection were examined. All patients were laboratory-confirmed to have SARS-CoV-2 infection. Patients were divided into severe cases (n=60) and moderate cases (n=60). The median age was 53 years, 120 patients and 96 (8.0%) of the 120 patientswere male. The significance of procalcitonin as a biomarker for assessing the risk of bacterial infection, disease progression, timely administration of antibacterial drugs, and duration of the course of antibacterial therapy was studied.
