CHANGES IN WATER LEVEL AND WATER SURFACE AREA OF THE ARAL SEA IN RECENT YEARS
Аннотация
The article presents an analysis of the hydrological regime of the Aral Sea, particularly its western part, during the period from 2021 to 2024 using remote sensing (RS) technologies. The study utilized modern satellite data, including MODIS imagery to determine the water surface area, as well as radar altimetry to measure water level values. According to the results obtained, between 2021 and 2024, the water level of the Aral Sea decreased from 21,96 meters to 19,95 meters, and the water surface area shrank from 2224 km² to 1939 km². These data serve as an important source of information for assessing the current ecological state of the sea and developing future hydrological scenarios.
