IoT Integration for Facility Management in Smart Enterprises

The present paper is an attempt to find out how the Internet of Things (IoT) has been incorporated in facility management of such smart enterprises in the desire to increase their operational productivity, cost optimization, and sustainability. This research aims to analyse the ways in which the optimization of facilities is carried out through IoT technologies, including the usage of smart sensors and connected devices, cloud-based analytics, real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, or automated control systems. It followed the qualitative approach, where case studies published in the recent past and industry reports were considered to evaluate the practical application of IoT adoption in the enterprise setting. Some findings of the research are that IoT makes it possible to conduct predictive maintenance, minimize equipment remains idle, and increase an asset life cycle. Also, the energy optimization can be supported by smart automation, which dynamically controls the lights, HVAC, and the use of water, and saves utility expenses and environmental footprint. Smart access and occupancy tracking systems also increased security and space usage. The connotations indicate that the enterprises that incorporate IoT into facility management practices can gain immense operational value and at the same time meet the objectives of sustainability practices.
